What is Design/Build with regards to home-building?
River Valley Construction, LLC offers Design/Build services, which means one company handles both the design and construction of your home under a single contract. Instead of hiring an architect to design the plans and then separately bidding those plans out to contractors, you work with a single team that:
– Designs your home (layout, architecture, finishes)
– Builds your home (permits, scheduling, labor, materials, construction)
How it works
In a nutshell, we meet and talk about your budget, vision for your home, must-haves and timeframe. We create plans for your project – architectural drawings, 3D renderings, etc. and based on these plans, we price your project. Once we’re in agreement on plans and cost estimates, we then build with our own trusted team of experienced professionals, managing the entire project start-to-finish.
RVC is a trusted design/build provider serving Frederick, Hagerstown in Western Maryland with a home base in Keedysville, MD. We are fully licensed by the Maryland Home Improvement Commission.

We experienced a home fire in March 2024 and were ready to start our rebuild when our initial contractor didn’t work out. We were in a nightmare situation with a partially gutted house and in need of a reliable contractor ready to start a project quickly.
We met with Jim, gave him a budget and scope of what we needed, he offered his ideas and service options to get the job done.
By midday the next day it felt like the weight of the world had been lifted off of us. RVC had a detailed plan in place and began to execute it. Our ideas, wants, and needs were included every step of the way. In roughly 90 days of starting our complete interior rebuild we were back in our home.
With the years of experience Jim has in the business, he was able to keep us out of the pitfalls that happen to people when building/rebuilding a home. His advice and ideas afforded us amenities that we would not have had otherwise.
We now have a great office in place of an awkward garage, ADA shower/tub in one of our bathrooms, better climate control with dual zone, a whole home generator hookup, our dream kitchen, and perfect lighting throughout the house.
